China Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) and Ministry of Health (MOH) have jointly issued on 16 February the National Food Safety Standard GB 28260-2011 to specify maximum residue limits (MRLs) and acceptable daily intakes (ADI) of 85 pesticides in food.

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) lately issued the Chinese 12th Five-Year Plan on Pesticides Development, suggesting to foster two to three large-scale pesticide manufacturing enterprises with international competitive strength and capable to produce over RMB 10 billion worth sales during the period of 2011-2015.

From Agropages.com news on 19 January, the ICAMA registration report published by Agropages said totally 148 active ingredients (AI) were granted ICAMA registrations in 2011, among which 56 were the first time to get approvals.

2012 will see an increase of 4.37% in demand for pesticides in domestic Chinese market.

Chinese pesticides import and export companies should apply for the release permit of their products based on the goods ID and corresponding product name in the new inventory.

On 11 November 2011, a conference was held in Beijing by the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection, marking the 10th anniversary of the signing the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). The deputy director of the MEP summarized the national experience in POPs control and the progress made on its fulfillment of the Convention.

This Regulation is promulgated by the State Council of P.R. China to supervise and control manufacturing, marketing and use of pesticides/agrochemicals in China. It entered into force on May 8, 1997, and was revised on 29th November 2001 according to the decision of China State Council. Two subordinate regulations were issued by China Ministry of Agriculture to provide guidance on implementation of this Regulation.
