China MoC Accept Antidumping Complaint from Domestic Pesticide Companies
On 21st September, 2012, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) has announced on its website to launch anti-dumping investigation against the pyridine imported from Japan and India. The decision was made under the petition from four major pesticide companies. On August 2nd, 2012, Anhui Guoxing Biochem, Nanjing Redsun, Weifang Lvba and Nantong Ruili Chemicals have jointly filed a complaint with the MoC, alleging dumping of pyridine from Japanese and Indian Manufacturers.
MoC will collect information from the interested parties by October 10th, 2012 to determine if there has been dumping and whether the injury allegedly suffered has been caused by the dumped chemicals. The Japan and India pyridine companies shall submit the amount and value of their exporting goods from July 1st, 2011 to June 30th, 2012. The interested parties shall submit their capacities, outputs, stocks, construction or expansion of the plants, imports or exports data from January 1st, 2008 to June 30th, 2012.
Pyridine is an important intermediate for agrochemical and pharmaceutical industry. The Chinese pesticide industry is current surplus with pyridine-synthesized generic products such as paraquat, diquat, chlorpyrifos and some of the leading agrochemical producers have built their own pyridine plant for cost-competitive consideration.
