On 4 Jun 2014, MoA issued two circulars to consult on 214 maximum residue limits for 35 pesticide active ingredients, of which 24 have already been banned or restricted in China.
The 214 MRLs were drafted by the MoA and the Ministry solicited opinions from MIIT, MoFCOM, NHFPC, AQSIQ, SFDA, State Grain Administration and China National Standardization Management Committee on MRLs of chlorothalonil, benomyl, profenofos, glyphosate, zineb, trichlorfon, triflumizole, thiophanate-methyl, bisultap, propamocarb phoxim and other 24 active ingredients already been banned or restricted in China. Some of the MRLs were already included into the “GB 2763-National Food Safety Standard-Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticide in Food” and some modification were made in this draft.
MoA also issued MRL draft of the 24 banned/restricted pesticides to the provincial agricultural authorities for more extensive opinions.
