On 5 June 2013, China’s MoA issued a notice to its provincial subordinates and associated testing facilities that pesticide manufacturers will be subject to randomized special quality testing. ICAMA will send appropriate personnel and take samples of products from the subject companies.
The samples will be tested by designated testing facilities and the tests will be carried out in accordance with the chemical data which registered with the ICAMA, or the national/industrial specification. Compared with traditional quality inspections, the campaign will be more focused on the active ingredient(s) in the products. Presence of any unregistered active ingredient will result in disqualification regardless of the outcomes of other test items.
The Ministry has also compiled a list of the companies and the products to be examined. The test results will be collected by the ICAMA and submitted to the MoA’s Department of Plantation Management. In April, MoA issued a condemnatory document highlighting four pesticide companies in violation of standards and warned that more stringent random inspection will be carried out in FY 2013(see Chemlinked News on April 17 2013).
