EU Pesticide Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009（referred to as EU PPPs Regulation）lays down harmonized rules for the approval of active substances and the placing on the market of plant protection products in the European Union. It was published in 2009 to replace old Directive 91/414/EEC and was entered into effect on 14th, June 2011.

On June 5, 2024, the Biocidal Products Committee (BPC) of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) adopted four opinions on active substances and seven on Union authorisations during its May meeting, noting a rise in opinions not supporting approvals due to insufficient data.

In June 2024, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) launched public consultations regarding two significant pesticide active substances, namely: flonicamid and kresoxim-methyl. These consultations invite the public to provide comments and scientific data, ensuring a comprehensive review process.
