Brazil Canceled Import Duty of Biological Insecticide to Fight against Mosquito and Helicoverpa

On 1 Apr 2016, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber issue the Resolution No 31/2016 on the Official Gazette to cancel the import duty of the biological insecticide based on Bacillus thuringiensis subsp, which was imposed on 14% import duties previously.

The tax cancelation is for vector control purpose against dengue, zika and chikungunya viruses. Meanwhile it will also benefit the Helicoverpa Armigera Control Program initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA).

Helicoverpa Armigera is a major pest and was classified as the “Priority Pests”. Pesticides intended for the control of the priority pests will be included into the priority review procedure.
