China to Establish Guidance for Agrochemical Testing

On March 21 2014, China ICAMA held a meeting in Beijing beginning the first round of talks on development of guidance for quality testing of pesticide products: the “Guidance for the Full-Component Analysis on the Technical Material for Pesticide Registration”, the “Guidance on 22 Physical-Chemical Test Items for Pesticide” and the “Guidance for Validation of Analysis Methods for Pesticide Registration”.

These three pieces of guidance will be promulgated in the form of industrial standards and used widely by registration applicants, testing institutions and registration reviewing authorities and will help standardize quality control measures for pesticide products.

China is well known for its exportatPesticide registration, China ICAMA, Pesticide testing, quality control, registration managemention of generic pesticides but the reputation of these cheaper products is poor and made worse by China’s dumping and counterfeit problems. If test data generated during the registration process in China could be accepted by authorities from other countries it would hugely benefit the standing of Chinese products overseas.  China is improving pesticide registration management by implementing stringent standards and ensuring regulatory transparency which should help promote China’s mutual acceptance of data agenda.
