China ICAMA held a working session from the 16th to 18th of July in Heilongjiang to discuss the re-assessment on certain pesticide active ingredients. After the meeting it was concluded that 2,4-D butylate and other 4 active ingredients should be the target of registration assessment.
The ICAMA recently established a new division called the Pesticide Registration Review Office, which has been tasked with reassessing registered product circulating in the market. Over the next three years the division will choose 10 to 20 active ingredients annually for reassessment (see ChemLinked Agro Analysis on 17 Dec 2013). The institute consulted on the candidates for the reassessment earlier this year (see ChemLinked News Release on 25 Mar 2014)
This was the first time that China initiated the systematic reassessment of pesticide. The ICAMA outlined the primary focus of each active ingredient:
To study the crop damage caused by 2,4-D butylate;
To reevaluate the environmental and doxological data of bismerthiazol;
Work safety problem caused by aluminum phosphide;
Safety risk caused by carbofuran and carbosulfan
Registrants wishing to maintain the registration status of these pesticides should supplement additional study reports or improve the formulation or the usage pattern of the products.
