• Marketing and use of 2,4-D butylate and paraquat will be terminated after associated pesticide registration validity expires. Exportation could be maintained.

• Use of flubendiamide on rice will be prohibited as of 1 Oct 2018;

• Aluminum phosphide products in compliance with packaging requirements may continue to be sold and utilized;

On 7 Sep 2016, China MoA issued Announcement 2445 to terminate the domestic use of 2,4-D butylate, paraquat dicofol as well as restriction of flubendiamide and 4 other active ingredients.

The measure was proposed during the 18^th session of 8^th National Expert Committee of Pesticide Registration and was open to public consultation earlier this year:

• ICAMA will immediately suspend the acceptance and approval on field trail, new application and registration renewal of all 2,4-D butylate and paraquat products. Manufacturers of technical grade product may maintain the registration by amending the registration category into export only purpose before registration expiry;

• All registrations of dicofol will be immediately canceled and the use and marketing of dicofol products should be terminated as of 1 Oct 2018;

• All registrations of flubendiamide on rice will be immediately canceled and the use of flubendiamide will be prohibited as of 1 Oct 2018;

• All registrations of carbonfuran, thimet and isofenphos-methyl products on sugarcane should be cancelled and the usage will be prohibited as of 1 Oct 2018;

• From the date of promulgation of the Announcement 2445, aluminum phosphide producers should utilize double-layer packing. The outer layer should be impermeable and waterproof, damp-proof and gas leak-proof while the inner layer should be permeable and convenient for direct fumigation. Both the inner and outer packing should be labeled with the highly toxic symbol and the warning phrase "It is prohibited to use the product indoors with people and animals". Marketing and usage of product with other forms of packages will be prohibited as of 1 Oct 2018;
