On 2nd Aug 2019, the MoARA’s Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau issued a missive to all provincial subordinates to recommend 10 disinfectants for African swine fever (ASF) control, which will be officially popularized among hog farms all over the country.
The uses of these disinfectants have been systematically evaluated by the national reference laboratory and deliberated with international organizations and the usages for different stage and targets are as follows:

The animal-use biocides in China are regulated as veterinary drug and the approval document or veterinary drug registration will be required for indigenous veterinary drugs or imported veterinary drugs. MoARA noted that the uses of these disinfectants are emergency purposes of ASF and the Ministry will strengthen the quality surveillance and the fight against counterfeit and sub-standard products.
The ASF had seriously affect hog farming in China since 2018. According to the MoARA, the population of hog and reproductive sow fell by 25% in June 2019. Estimated from China’s pork output of 54 million tons in 2018, the pork reduction would be more than 10 million tons in 2019 and the strain of pork supply would continue for the next two years.
