Member of the strobilurin group of fungicides is a second generation broad spectrum strobilurine type fungicide with improved protective and curative properties against main plant disease.  Trifloxystrobin works by interfering with respiration in plant pathogenic fungi. The site of action of strobilurin compounds is located in the mitochondrial respiration pathway. As a result of this mode of action, trifloxystrobin is a potent inhibitor of 2 fungal spore germination and mycelial growth. Trifloxystrobin is a broad-spectrum foliar fungicide that has high levels of activity against many fungal pathogens within the Ascomycete, Deuteromycete, Basidiomycete, and Oomycete classes. Pests controlled by this active ingredient include grape and cucurbit powdery mildew, apple scab and powdery mildew, peanut leafspot, and brown patch of turfgrasses.

SDH stands for Succinate De-Hydrogenase, an important enzyme and one key to the effective functioning of the mitochondria, a critical organ of the fungus. Mitochondria are responsible for energy production for the fungus. They are often referred to as the “cellular power plant” of the fungus. Being responsible for other key cellular functions such as cell growth, it can be seen that impacting the mitochondria by inhibiting the SDI enzyme will have a major and detrimental impact on the fungus. The term SDHI fungicide is used to refer to fungicides that inhibit this enzyme. Currently, there are more than 17 kinds of SDHI fungicide products in the market, including bixafe, fluopyram, penflufen, isopyrazam, sedaxane, fluxapyroxad, penthiopyrad, and benzovindiflupyr.  Fluxapyroxad was developed by BASF, mainly applied on grains, soybeans, corn, vegetables, and fruits. Fluxapyroxad has been registered in USA, Australia, Canada and New Zealand with more than 2.5 billion annual sales.

Isoxaflutole was first synthesized in 1990 and its herbicidal properties were recognized in 1991. The initial producer according to the EPA was Rhone-Poulenc Ag Company, which became Aventis CropScience and was then acquired by Bayer CropScience in 2001. Isoxaflutole is a pigment inhibitor. It works by preventing the biosynthesis of carotenoid pigments, which protect chlorophyll from decomposition by sunlight. Without carotenoid pigments, chlorophyll pigments are photo-oxidized and chloroplasts break down. Without the energy-collecting action of the chlorophyll, the whole plant eventually dies.  

Pyraclostrobin is an exciting kind of strobilurin chemistry. It is locally systemic, moving both upward and downward to a limited degree, to protect unsprayed portions of the leaf. In addition, pyraclostrobin will move from the top to the bottom of the leaf (translaminar movement), so when applying to the top of the foliage will give protection to the underside as well.

Carboxin is a well established globally registered broad spectrum systemic SDHI fungicide with particular strength on bunts and rhizoctonia and marketed under the Vitavax. Carboxin is widely used to provide control of a broad range of seed and soil-borne diseases. May be applied on its own or often combined with the contact fungicide thiram for broader and more effective disease control plus "seed sanitation“. Carboxin is applied on wheat, barley, oats, rye, triticale, rice, maize, cotton, sugar beet, peanuts, soybean, peas, vegetables, sunflower, linseed, flax, rape seed and potato.

Penoxsulam is a post-emergence herbicide based on the acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor. Penoxsulam was originally designed for use in rice fields and is capable of killing several pest grasses that prefer wet environments. These include barnyardgrass, young watergrass, Lolium ryegrasses, canarygrass species, annual blackgrass and wild buckwheat. It is useful for the removal of unwanted plants on golf courses, sports fields, and lawns. Penoxsulam was firstly launched in 2004 in USA, and enter China market by 2008.
