Plantation wheat and corn has shrunk by almost 1.7 million hectares in 2015, which impacted overall market performance. Glyphosate experienced a decrease of 24% due to lower price and the herbicide market fell by 7%. Insecticide market slumped by 28% because of fewer insect attacks. The lack of further investment in agrochemical could be an attribute to the excessive tax policies of the previous government.
Sales of Monsanto has dropped by 15% while the other top companies decreased by over 17% on average. Only 7 major companies achieved growth in Argentina: BASF (+ 27%), Agrofina (+ 1%), Red Surcos (+ 6%), Summit (+ 6%), FMC (+ 15%), YPF (+ 8%) and Arysta (+14%).
Recovery is expected next year as plantation increase of soybean, corn, wheat, sunflower, barley, canola and oats.
