Existing registrants should obtain TC registration before applying for registration extension or they should alternatively provide documentation of the source of their technical material when applying for registration extension
On 11 Sep 02014, ICAMA organized a symposium in Zhejiang Wenzhou to discuss risk control on bismerthiazol. The safety and risk assessment of bismerthiazol is part of a pesticide risk reassessment campaign, which was initiated in Jul this year (see ChemLinked News Release on 28 Jul 2014) and five active ingredients were included into ICAMA’s working plan.
The symposium reached conclusions and gave an initial opinion on safety risk control of bismerthiazol. Despite the previous absence of bismerthiazol TC registration, the TC registration should be completed to maintain the data integrity of all registered products. Existing registrants should obtain TC registration before applying for registration extension or alternatively they should provide documentation indicating the source of their technical material when applying for registration extension. The affected companies may gather the data through joint study, which would reduce testing costs.
ICAMA’s pesticide registration review office will arrange reassessment of bismerthiazol after receiving the data from registrants and then make a final decision on the fungicide;
Bismerthiazol was registered in China in the 80s. All bismerthiazol products were registered as 20% WP formulation by 12 Chinese domestic producers.
