K-BPR: South Korea Delists over 100 Existing Biocidal Active Substances

K-BPR: South Korea Delists over 100 Existing Biocidal Active SubstancesOn June 25, the South Korean National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) issued Notice 2021-32 to revise the list of biocidal active substances subject to deferred approval which was updated in the form of NIER Notice 2021-11 on January 26. In addition to decreased number of existing biocidal active substances, the list will be renewed every 3 years as of July 1.
Compared to the previous version, the total number of active substances decreased from 746 to 594 and the main changes are as follows:

  • 153 substances have been completely deleted;

  • 134 substances have had their permitted product types partially removed;

  • 2 identical but repeatedly listed substances have been incorporated;

  • 4 substances have been newly included;

  • 34 substances have had their product types added

On the same day, NIER opened the online application system of biocidal active substances and reminded that importers and manufacturers of the same existing substance must participate in the Joint Submission Council.
