South Korea Released Criteria for Efficacy Verification of Covid-19 Disinfectants
On May 4, 2021, the South Korean National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) released the verification criteria for covid-19 related disinfecting effect, offering test method and criteria for the recognition and approval of consumer-use covid-19 sterilant/ disinfectant that has not yet included in the Covid-19 disinfection guidelines previously issued by the Ministry of Environment.

On April 28, 2021, the US EPA announced the suspension of expediting review of surface-use disinfectants, which the recent information from CDC that the risk of being infected with COVID-19 by touching contaminated surfaces is considered low.

Philippine Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority to Take over Veterinary Biocide Registration
On April 22, 2021, the Philippine Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) issued the Memorandum Circular regarding the registration of veterinary-use biocides previously registered with the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) that subject to be transferred to FPA.

China MoARA to Enhance Regulation on Imported Biostimulants Derived from Marine Wastes
On April 14th and 15th 2021, the Chinese Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Affairs concluded the 5th session of the 9th Review Committee of Fertilizer Registration. The participants voted to approve 113 fertilizers and agreed to standardize the market entry procedures of secondary-element WSFs (Water-soluble fertilizers containing calcium and magnesium) and strengthen the review process of imported organic WSFs(also known as biostimulants) derived from marine food wastes.

China’s Pesticide Qualification Rate Increased by 7.6% in 2020
On April 16, 2021, China MoARA released the ministerial inspection results of pesticide quality in 2003. The overall qualification rate was 96.2%, an increase of 7.6% from the previous year of 88.6%. 40% of the substandard pesticides were fake products containing no registered active ingredient or containing unregistered active ingredients.

US EPA to Conditionally Register Insecticide Mixture for Residential Outdoor Purpose
On April 8, 2021, the US EPA opened a 30-day public comment period regarding the proposed decision to conditionally register the first residential outdoor use of the insecticides cyclaniliprole and flonicamid on roses, flowers, shrubs, and small (non-fruit bearing) trees. The agency is proposing to register three new products: an individual manufacturing-use product for each of the two active ingredients and one end-use product formulated with both active ingredients.

Brazil MAPA Registered 39 Generic Formulated Pesticides
On April 13, 2021, the Brazilian Ministry of Agricultural, Livestock and Supply announced the registration of 39 formulated pesticides, of which 14 are categorized as low-impact pesticides.

France Announced Follow-up Measures for Banned Co-formulants in Plant Protection Products
On March 24, 2021, French pesticide authority ANSES published the follow-up measures for the list of co-formulants banned in plant protection products (PPP), an amendment to Annex III of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 which was published on March 3. Affecting applicants and authorization holders are required to apply for a non-significant change of composition to maintain the authorization process or existing authorization.
