On November 1, 2013, China Crop Protection Industry Association issued an announcement to solicit opinions on the cleaner production index targeting several pesticide sectors, the “Assessment Indicator System of Cleaner Production for Organophosphrous Pesticide Industry (Trial)”. The consultation is opened to affected pesticide manufacturing companies until November 10, 2013.
The Assessment Indicator System (AIS) was drafted by China Chemical Industry Environmental Protection Association, China Crop Protection Industry Association and Hubei Sanonda, under the “Cleaner Production Promotion Law of the People's Republic of China”. It aims at promoting cleaner production among the organophosphrus pesticide and glyphosate producers. The AHP (analytic hierarchy process) method was translated into the system to measure the cleaner production performance of the pesticide producers. All subject companies will be classified into two categores, the advanced level and the average level, wich was based on defined indicators.
The system will be trial implemented after its issuance and the index will be revised every 3 to 5 years.
