On March 21, 2014, China ICAMA issued a notice on its website to its provincial level subordinates and other authorities involved in pesticide management to consult on the list of pesticide products subject to registration reassessment.
Candidate pesticides should be registered and widely used in China and possess characteristics with potential for crop damage, resistance in target species, MRL violations and negatively impact the environment, human and animal health.
Authorities must provide the name of the active ingredient or pesticide product and the reasons for the reevaluation by filling and submitting a consultation form by April 30, 2014, which consists of the following aspects:
Name of the pesticide;
Rationale for registration reassessment;
Reference material and supporting data;
Suggestion on the reassessment;
Proposed control measures on the targeted candidate;
Last year, China ICAMA established a new division called the Pesticide Registration Review Office, which has been tasked with reassessing registered products circulating in the market. The office will choose 10 to 20 active ingredients annually for reassessment in the next three years(see Chemlinked Expert Article on Dec17 2014).
