On 12 May 2017, China MoA invited departmental consultation to ban/restrict the agricultural uses of 5 active ingredients including endosulfan, bromnomenthane, acephate, carbosulfan and dimethoate.

These measures were initiated under Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, Montreal Protocol (Copenhagen Amendment) and the China Food Safety Law:

• All pesticide registration of endosulfan will be revoked as of 1 Jul 2018 and the agricultural uses should be prohibited from 27 Mar 2019;

• All pesticide registration of bromomethane will be revoked as of 1 Jul 2018 and the agricultural uses should be prohibited from 1 Jan 2019;

• The registration of acehpate, carbosulfan and demethoate on vegetable, melon fruits and tea will be revoked as of 1 Jul 2017 and acceptance of registration applications will be terminated. Use on vegetable, melon fruits, tea, edible fungi and medical herbs should be prohibited from 1 Jul 2017
