China Stops Registration of Glyphosate AS with Content Below 30%

China has ordered on 26 March a suspension of field test and pesticide registration application (including temporary, full and renewal registrations) for glyphosate mixture aqueous solution with active ingredient content below 30%, according to a notice issued by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture early this month.

Approved mixture aqueous solutions that contain less than 30% glyphosate are required to increase the content to more than 30% and update the corresponding certificate of registration before 31 August 2012. The agency does not retain any original certificates of pesticide registration or temporary registration for the product should the modification fail to meet the time deadline. If the applicant is between a certified field test and the submission of registration application, he can continue the application with elevated glyphosate content concentration.

For glyphosate products produced before 31 August 2012 in accordance with the former certificate of pesticide registration or temporary registration and meeting the condition of below 30% active ingredient content, MoA confirms normal use and sales within shelf life is permissible.

Detailed documents used to elevate the active ingredient content can be found on the MoA notice page.
