On May 24 2013, the MIIT issued a notice that the approvals for pesticide of several arsenic pesticide products have been revoked for their inclusion into the elimination list.
The cancellation which took effect immediately was mainly focused on the repackages and combination formulations of asomate and urbacide. The competent authorities of industrial administration at provincial level are asked to withdraw the certificates from the affected manufacturers.
On October 13, 2010, the MIIT issued the “Guidance Catalogue of Obsolete Equipment and Products within Certain Industries”. The Catalogue specified the products/equipment and their timelines to be eliminated in the industries, which included steel, nonferrous metal, chemistry, building materials, machinery, light manufacturing, textile and pharmaceutical.
Depending on the quality standard of the pesticide product, the manufacturer should either obtain the production license from the AQSIQ or the approval certification from the MIIT. If the products or the equipment/techniques were listed on other “black list”, the production would be restrained. Early this year, the AQSIQ revised the “Rules for Implementing the Production License on Pesticide Products”, which specified the product or technologies to be obsolete and restricted in the future(see Chemlinked News on March 6 2013).
