MoA to Determine Budget Plan of Pesticide Management for 2013

The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture noticed to its affiliates and subordinates on August 28, 2012 about next year’s budget plan for agriculture items. For agrochemical concerned section, the budget plan is to funding fees for conducting risk and safety assessment of several ais and registration trials on minor-crops, as well as MRLs establishment.

In 2013, China will initiate surveys on risky pesticide, they including: the harmful impurities in thiophanate-methyl and other 14 ais, impact and resistance on the crop, residual problems and environmental problems. The studies will be conducted at 28 provinces or cities. Meanwhile, China will collect sufficient hydrological, geographical, meteorological and agricultural data, develop safety evaluation methods and raise suggestions for risk control on pesticide. Pilot Registration will be carried out on 4 ais for minor crops such as mushrooms and tea plants, and 139 MRLs on different crops and usage guidance for 4 PGRs will be figured out.

The surveys and studies will be undertaken by local plant protection stations, subordinates of the MoA and qualified research and education centers. MoA asked the study conducting bodies to notify and submit their relevant budget plans by September 28th, 2012.
