Canada PMRA Updates Notification Guidance for Minor Registration Change
On 16 May 2016, the Canada Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) released the “Regulatory Directive DIR2016-02, Notification/Non-notification”. To simply certain minor changes to registered product, the PMRA has provided a notification/non-notification policy since 1994 and the industry and stakeholders can follow the notification or non-notification process without standard registration alteration formalities.

FAO released new guideline to phase out high toxic pesticides
Last week, during the 33rd Near East and North Africa meeting hold in Roma, FAO and WHO have released new guidelines aimed at reducing the damage done by pesticides that pose especially high toxic risks to human health and the environment.

China MoA Proposes to Ban 2,4-D butylate and Flubendiamide Use on Rice
On 9  May 2016, China MoA solicited public opinions to impose the control measure on 8 pesticides. The domestic use of 2,4-D butylate and paraquat would be phased out and the use flubendiamide on rice will be prohibited as of 1 Jul 2018. The exportation of the concerning pesticides will remain unaffected.

Brazil MAPA Consults on Normative Instruction for Pesticide Labeling and Data Upload to Agrofit System

Brazil ANVISA Provides Application Form to Update the Positive List of Technical Product for Equivalent Reference
On 22 April 2016, the Brazil ANVISA published the “Application Form for the Inclusion or Alteration of Referenced Technical Product” to concerning registrant who wishes to include or modify product into/in the “Positive List of Technical Product for Equivalent Reference”. The list contains the active ingredient, trade name, registration number of the technical products can be appointed as reference product by other applicant who proposed for pesticide registration under equivalence category.

Brazil MAPA Issued Ordinance on Automatic RET of Pesticide Based on Existing Active Ingredient
On 6 April 2016, the Secretariat of Agricultural Defense of MAPA (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply) published an ordinance regarding automatic registration of pesticide for research and experimental purpose. The technical product, pre-mixture, pesticide and similar product containing active ingredient(s) already registered in Brazil will be automatically granted with the Special Temporary Registration (RET) by MAPA.

Brazil ANVISA Proposes to Maintain Pesticide Registration of 2,4-D Based Product
On 14 Apr 2016, Brazil National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) hosted a 60 days’ public consultation to maintain the production, exportation, importation, marketing and use of 2,4-D based product in the country.
