53 Products Earmarked for Priority Pesticide Registration Evaluation in Brazil in 2017
An evaluation of the registration status of 53 pesticides including 26 insecticides, 20 herbicides and 7 fungicides will be prioritized in Brazil in 2017
Technical products supporting the registration of these prioritized products will also be evaluated as part of this initiative
The Brazilian MAPA has drafted a list of products which will be subject to priority review in 2017, which was discussed with IBAMA and ANVISA during the 2nd regular meeting of CTA (Technical Advisory Committee of Pesticide). 53 pesticides were included into the list, of which 26 are insecticides, 20 are herbicides and 7 are fungicides.
MAPA noted that technical and economic impact were considered during the selection of pesticides, including the novelty (new active ingredient), efficacy, crop rotation and resistance management, as well as competition in crop protection market. All listed products were assigned a priority score from zero (highest) to six (lowest). Product with low efficacy against pests and sufficient supply will not be prioritized. For product formulated based on equivalent technical products which have not yet been evaluated, they will be distributed among the evaluation authorities as part of the same program.
