On 17 Oct 2017, China MoA disclosed the expert panelists nominated for the forthcoming 9th National Committee on Pesticide Registration for public consultation until 31 Oct 2017.
The panelists are selected on commendations made by government departments including MIIT, MEP, NHFPC, AQSIQ, SAWS and CFDA to fit specific personnel composition requirements as designated by the MoA early this year. 

The national pesticide registration committee is primarily responsible for technical advice on the registration (full registration) of new pesticides (new active ingredient) and other nationwide risk mitigation measures on existing pesticides. The panelists are randomly selected to attend plenary session once or twice a year.

The current 8th National Committee has assembled 21 sessions during their tenure. The composition, uses (crop & pest), applicant of new pesticide and the reason for rejection on each new active ingredient have been collected in each meeting minutes, helping interested parties to understand industry development and other important issues:

• 21st: Chinese Pesticide Registration Fully Granted to 21 New Active Ingredients

• 20th: China to Grant Full Pesticide Registration to 9 New Active Ingredients

• 19th: New Active Ingredients to be Fully Approved in China

• 18th: Notes of 18th Conference of pesticide registration review committee

Since the 9th Committee is established under the newly revised pesticide regulation and the new data requirement will take effect on the 1^st of Nov 2017. Subsequent dossier will be reviewed under more stringent criteria as follows:

• Toxicology: Health risk assessment report on applicant, resident and experimental data on neurotoxicity, endocrine disruption and metabolism

• Efficacy: Benefit analysis, efficacy study (laboratory study on bio-activity and crop safety and efficacy trial at plot and demonstrative scales) and risk assessment on pest resistance (supported by laboratorial and field trial data)

• Residue: dietary risk assessment report, elevated requirement on metabolic study (in plant, animal and environment), residue study on crop and processed produce, residue analytical method and storage stability study

• Environmental Impact: environmental risk assessment will be mandatorily required, some chronic eco-toxicological tests, microcosm and mescosm will be conditionally required, soil adsorption and acute eco-toxicological tests on pesticide metabolite will be partly required
