According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs (GAC), Chinese Pesticide trade value reached to 2.816 billion USD during the first half of 2014 and the trade surplus was 1.915 billion USD, up 22.9% year on year. The volume of export grown by 10.5% to some 669, 000 tons and the value increased by 20.1% to some 2.366 billion USD.

The volume of imports rose by 20.9% to 51,000 tons and the value increased by 9.5% to some 450 million USD. 17,700 tons or 109 million USD of the imported pesticide was from ASEAN regions, followed by Europe (15,800 tons or 152 million USD) and the United States (3,400 tons or 67 million USD).

Africa sourced 182,000 tons or 525 million USD of pesticide from China, followed by ASEAN regions (174,600 tons or 509 million USD) and Latin America (124,200 tons or 545 million USD)respectively. Shanghai port ranked number 1 by export volume. In total 23,200 tons and 187 million USD of the pesticide was exported through Shanghai port an increase of 27.5% and 29.1% respectively.

GAC statistic would be different from ICAMA data as these two authorities have different data criteria. For example, pesticides under the Chapter 29 of Chinese National Import and Export Tariff are usually not included into GAC’s scope, which contains a lot of pesticide technical materials. Thus the outcome of the GAC is usually smaller than that of the ICAMA.
According to statistics from the National Bureau of Statistic (NBS), the revenue of 836 pesticide enterprises totaled 146 billion CNY, up by 9% year on year, but profit from the biopesticide sector dropped by 8.4% to some 866 million CNY.
