Taiwan to Ban Most Crop Uses of Chlorpyrifos
On 21 Aug 2018, Taiwan BAPHIQ (Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan) concluded a technical advisory meeting regarding chlorpyrifos dietary risk mitigation measures. An injunction forbidding its uses on 13 agricultural commodities is expected to be publically consulted on in September.

Taiwan EPA to Raise Administration Fee for Environmental Agents
On 28 May 2018, Taiwan EPA solicited opinion on a new charging policy for environmental agents. Administrative charges on certain registration and license categories would be doubled and charging scope would expand to include pesticide for export only purpose, experimental use permit (EUP) and certificate supporting tariff reduction for imported technical materials.

Taiwan EPA Issues Warning on Illegal Mosquito Repellents Ads
On 17 Apr 2018, The Toxic and Chemical Substance Bureau under Taiwan Environmental Agency released their annual monitoring report of environmental agents. In 2017, 40,720 advertisements, labels and products were inspected and the qualification rate was 99%. One notable violation prompted Taiwan’s EPA to issue a public warning against mosquito repellents imported from Japan.

On 7 Nov 2014, the Agricultural Chemicals and Toxic Substances Research Institute, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan (Taiwan TACTRI) updated the application form for data review on pesticide registration.
